Abstract:
The article examines the military theme in the works of Bulat Okudzhava on the example of his lyrics and translations of individual poems into the Armenian language. These translations were made by Rafael Papayan. The facts from the biography of the 1960s bard help to reveal the author’s poetics. Okudzhava portrays the soldier not only as a victor and hero, but also as a person with their own emotions. He dedicates his most famous compositions to ordinary soldiers who may not be outwardly heroic, but who have retained their inner kindness, compassion, and “hidden warmth of patriotism”. Okudzhava is not interested in military operations, but in the everyday life of the military, in “how an ordinary person tries to survive in the extreme conditions of frontline life”. Studying Okudzhava’s military poetry in schools not only allows students to learn about an important chapter in history, but also helps them develop their ability to empathize and become more patriotic. The study is based on a comparative analysis of literary texts. It provides a detailed methodology for conducting extracurricular lessons.
