Abstract:
Rustem A. Kutuy (1936–2010) is a poet and novelist who implements the phenomenon of Russian and Tatar cultural borderland in his works. The article analyzes the genre nature of the poems included in the collection “I Saw That War”. These poems are united by the theme of memory of the Great Patriotic War, his father, who tragically passed right after the war finished, the memory of his mother, and post-war childhood. It is stated that prosaic and poetic principles are synthesized in the works by R. Kutuy. The author points out such genre- forming tendencies as epization, dramatization, and novelization, overlapping with lyrical structures of the elegiac and idyllic types, establishing the aesthetic significance of “subjective” experience of the character. Some poems include the elements of ballade poetics that function as forms of the representation of tragic modes of artistry. Also, the author distinguishes the correlation principles of the storyline and its comprehension from the side of the lyric subject, i. e., plot and lexical repetitions within the poem and the transition of “I” from one ideologic state (the narrator, the viewer) into another (the participant of the event). It is concluded that R. Kutuy’s lyrical character acts as a separate person, gifted by unique, recognizable autobiographic features, as well as a bearer of generic consciousness, conceptualizing personal tragedy as the tragedy of his generation. The determination of the genre features of the poems included in the abovementioned collection clarifies the parameters of artistic integrity of the works created on the cross-cultural level in the context of Russian and Tatar literature.
Keywords: literary heritage of R. Kutui, compositional and architectonic forms, artistry modes, Russian and Tatar cross-cultural cooperation.
