Abstract:

The article is devoted to the problem of the implementation of such an author’s strategy in the literary work of Catherine II, as a “gallant dialogue”, in which the focus on the reader is realized through conditionally equal communication between the sender and the addressee while maintaining their status, which marks the turn of author’s thinking from a rhetorical system to a poetic one, expressed in the destruction of the classical genre paradigm through the manifestation of a personal principle in the choice of artistic means, including folklore, and turning to comic techniques of writing, including parodies, in a literary game with the addressee. The use of the concept of “author's strategy” is explained as the logic of study by Catherine scholars (Y.K. Grot, A.N. Pypin, G.A. Gukovsky, A.E. Gruzinsky, E.F. Litvinova, V.P. Stepanov, Yu.N. Stennik), the specifics of the literary work of the empress writer, as well as statements about the features of the authorship of Catherine II herself. Actually, the “gallant” behavior is realized by the crowned writer in letters to G.A. Potemkin, in Catherine’s comedies, in the genres of the salon, which were reflected in the memoirs of the empress.
