Abstract:

The article examines three novels by O. Vasyakina based on the material of family history (“Wound”, “Steppe”, “Rose”) in the context of the features of the modern novel form, which is characterized by genre hybridity, metatextuality, autobiography and “new sincerity”. Using the example of Vasyakina’s novel trilogy, the features of the genre of autofiction and women’s writing are analyzed. Special attention is paid to two issues: the relationship of fiction and authenticity in the texts of the writer, or, in other words, artistry and documentary, as well as the specifics of physicality and psychologism in these works and the change of the author’s focus. In the novel “Steppe”, the narrator appears as an observer, in the “Wound” the narrative is based on the interaction with the “other”, and in the “Rose” a pair of characters appears (Oksana / Svetlana), representing doubles-antagonists. As a result, it is concluded that fiction (completion, making up of history, reproduction of landscape, portrait, setting, etc.) in Vasyakina’s works is organically combined with autobiographical accuracy, factuality, which allows creating the impression of authenticity and plausibility. The writer’s style evolves in the third novel to greater psychologism, and the deliberate corporeality is softened.
