Abstract:
The article is devoted to little-studied pages of the biography of the writer N.S. Sokhanskaya (Kokhanovskaya): her works in her church parish in the Kharkov province and her participation in the revival of Orthodox brotherhoods. The picture of Kokhanovskaya’s many years of unnoticed work on her farm and in her parish has been restored. The central part of the article is a reconstruction of the history of Kokhanovskaya’s first trip to Volyn in 1866. The article analyzes unique documents, precious both for the biography of the writer and for Russian history. The researcher introduces into academic circulation letters from Kokhanovskaya to A.D. Bludova and M.F. Sollogub and fragments of the “Charter of Fraternal Assistance”, which the writer developed for one of the villages of the Rovno district. At the same time, it is emphasized that Kokhanovskaya’s main work, of course, was her writing.
