Abstract:
The diaries and memoirs of the poet and novelist Antonin Petrovich Ladinsky (1895–1961) are unique documents of the era, revealing in the smallest details and nuances the life of Russian Paris in the 1930s. Above all, they provide a rare opportunity to look at the émigré press from the point of view of an eyewitness and a direct participant and contain interesting material on the history of émigré journalism, which is still poorly studied. Another important topic, practically not disclosed both in scientific research and in the testimonies of contemporaries, is the post-war movement of “Soviet patriots” among the Russian emigration. Ladinsky’s diary entries, including those of his German period, reveal the internal motives for the emergence of this movement and show new trends in the perception of the Motherland by the Russian Diaspora. Ladinsky’s émigré period diaries and memoirs are published in full for the first time, the book is accompanied by the detailed commentary.
