Abstract:

The article presents a review of the most significant works of Chinese scholars devoted to the life and work of Vladimir Mayakovsky, describes modern trends in the development of Mayakovsky studies in China. Special attention is paid to comprehending the influence of the poet’s work on Chinese poetry and other types of Chinese culture (cross talk, drama, film). The novelty of the work lies in the fact that the research reception of Mayakovsky in China is considered in a diachronic aspect: from the first acquaintance of Chinese scholars with the work of the Russian poet in the early twentieth century to the present day. Each stage of mastering Mayakovsky’s poetic work in China has its own peculiarities, which are conditioned by the historical and cultural context of the society’s life. At the beginning of its formation, Chinese Mayakovsky studies are imitative in nature, but gradually come to independence. Chinese poetry and art follow a similar path: from borrowing the verse form and ideological content of Mayakovsky’s works to their original interpretation and their own philosophical reflections.
