Abstract:
The article describes the experience of comprehending the poetry of Vladimir Mayakovsky from childhood to mature age. Mayakovsky’s works accompany first the schoolchild, then the actor, poet, writer, philologist, and cultural historian. Mayakovsky’s volumes bring the young actor and writer to the iconic names of the Russian avant-garde, encourage him to search for works of poets and artists, lead him to libraries, museums and to people who knew the Poet and his associates personally. Among these people are Viktor Shklovsky and Sergei Yutkevich. The author becomes a researcher of the works of Mayakovsky, Khlebnikov, Elena Guro, David Burliuk, Vasily Kamensky, Alexei Kruchenykh and Kazimir Malevich, turns to the theory of the avant-garde and at the same time is engaged in the practical interpretation of avant-garde creative process. Individual experience is traced, leading to significant generalizations. One of these generalizations can be formulated the following way: for new generations, Mayakovsky becomes a guide to poetry and the art of modern times in general. And in this sense, interaction truly happens. The Poet’s work affects “comrades of the descendants”; he really talks “as alive with the living”, that is, the descendants remain in dialogue with him.
