Abstract:

The article attempts to identify a possible way of analyzing the poetic systems of A. Blok and V. Mayakovsky. The continuity of the aesthetic and philosophical tendencies of Symbolism and Futurism is actualized once again — despite the rejection of their predecessors’ influence postulated by the Futurists, both movements had common ideological aspirations with a difference in aesthetic modulations. In such a way we consider the cultural situation against the background of which the formation of both poets took place. The examples of studies devoted to the influence of the symbolist aesthetics on the V. Mayakovsky’s work are given, and the comparison of his lyrical hero with the lyrical heroes of the symbolists is carried out. At the same time, the article raises the question of the extremely frequent mention of Blok’s name in connection with Mayakovsky, though not strictly in terms of the aesthetic influence. Consequently, it seems appropriate to assume the possibility of a potential methodology for comparing two poetic systems of such diverse poets, without resorting to particular facts of influence, but focusing on a certain general pattern. Consideration of this system in the future will lead to an analysis of the instruments of the poetic “word” influencing the reader’s perception, and how this affects the poetics of a text. In further articles developing this issue, examples of such an analysis will be introduced, and the validity of this approach will be revealed.
