Abstract:

The year 2023 marked the 130th anniversary of the birth of V.V. Mayakovsky, one of the most significant poets of the 20th century. Despite the rather large number of biographical studies devoted to V.V. Mayakovsky, the period of his childhood and the closest circle of the Mayakovsky family of that time have not been sufficiently studied. Partially, this gap can be filled by turning to the Mayakovskys’ inner circle of that period. His parents, V.K. Mayakovsky and A.A. Mayakovskaya, played the decisive role in the formation and personal development of the future poet. V.K. Mayakovsky was a forester by profession, he devoted more than 20 years of his life to the Forest. The article highlights the pages of the biography of Mayakovsky’s colleagues in Baghdad forestry, witnesses of the future poet’s childhood days. Special attention is paid to I.S. Voychal, an honored teacher of the Arkhangelsk Forestry Institute (ALTI), and to research foresters, G.V. Neruchev and N.A. Benevolsky. The source base of the study contains the little-known archival documents, including personal papers (family archive of N.P. Boikova), which have not been previously introduced into academic circulation.

  • Keywords: Vladimir Konstantinovich Mayakovsky, Joseph Stanislavovich Voychal, German Vasilyevich Neruchev, Nikolai Alekseevich Benevolsky, Baghdad forestry, forestry business.
