Abstract:

The article deals with role of the mannequin in the process of narrative world view interpretation of the latest Spanish literature. The stories of Juan José Millás were chosen as the object of the study. The relevance of the study is due to the attempt to link together such categories of text analysis as: the narrative world view, the event, the postmodern aesthetics. The narrative world view is an indicator of the category of event and eventuality, that show all deviations from the norm and the reaction of the society. As the author of the so-called 68-year generation, Millás pays close attention to the marginalized segments of the population, believing that they reflected the state of society during the rule of Francisco Franco. A little later, marginal characters gave way to the mannequin as a symbol of silence and subjugation, heartlessness and emptiness. Using postmodern concepts about the ostensibilities of reality which in a certain measure are carrying on traditions of magic realism, Millás describes an event in the life of the child, young man, only at the end shocking the reader with manifestations of absurdity in a solution, but at the same time indicating that characters just have no other exit to resolve the situation. Such precedent narrative world view indicates the mythology of modern Spanish consciousness, that would like to find the support in archaic models of world order.
