Abstract:

The Сollective Мonograph “Sergey Esenin in the Context of the Epoch” is published to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Yu. L. Prokushev — the organizer and the projects implementation leader of “The Complete Works of S. A. Esenin” (1995–2001) and “The Chronicle of the Life and Work of S. A. Esenin” (2003–2018) at the IWL RAS. The monograph presents a wide range of problems that were posed, studied and resolved in the process of working on these publications. The results of the research presented in the materials that compiled the monograph also demonstrate the multifaceted nature of the directions for further research of the life and work of S. A. Esenin and his contemporaries in the context of the epoch. The monograph contains the Appendix, where “The Dictionary of the Rhymes by S. A. Esenin” and “The Bibliography of Translations of Works by Sergey Esenin (1920– 1927)” are published. The information from the monograph now is used in the preparation of the fundamental scientific work “The Esenin Encyclopedia” and will undoubtedly become a useful source for the creation of scientific biographies of Russian writers and artists of the first half of the 20th century. It can be in demand by teachers and students studying Russian literature and culture. Separate sections can be used in the educational process — in lecture courses and special courses on Russian literature of the 20th century.
